Gabe & Ghis Visit Bristol

Marc's sister, Ghislaine, and her husband, Gabe, stopped by on their way from Ottawa to VA Beach. It was wonderful to see them - they were Marc's first family to come visit us in our new home. They had not seen Frederic since he was 13 months old and were meeting Theodore - also the first of Marc's family to do so.

My Karate Kid

Marc and I thought it would be great for Fred to take Karate - they teach control, listening, stranger and fire safety and Karate. This was his third class - it was a Saturday and he had the instuctor all to himself.

Frederic's First Dentist Appointment

Thanks to Frederic's teacher at Sullins, our family has a dentist! Dr. Jason Pittman is a Sullins Dad and has a son Fred's age - it is a great practice with great people - Fred loves Mary Jo. She's really nice and also let him watch Cartoon Network ... something Mama doesn't allow.

Frederic was very curious

I found this costume at the St Philips Early Learning Center sale in Denver this year - I need to get more dress up stuff, but this one was a very big hit!

State Street UMC Welcomes the St-Hilaires

It was unlike any experience I have ever had as a church member.

We invited Pastor Mike over to our home for dinner to talk with us about joining State Street. We had been attending since we arrived in Bristol and were there daily to drop Theodore off with Ms Natalie. It was a good fit for us, so we planned to make it official on Sunday, May 17th.

At the beginning of the service, Pastor Mike invited us to the front, introduced us to the congregation and this is when is got interesting. The parishioners started coming forward to introduce themselves and welcome us to the church. I felt so welcome and so comfortable there - it was amazing.

Bays Mountain Park and Gray Fossil Site

It was like any other Saturday ... a lazy morning in the big bed, then we got the family packed in the car, headed somewhere to shop or tour and then both boys passed out. One thing was different ... I was driving for a change. I wanted to drive around for a while and let the boys sleep, so we ended up on I-81 south. We had not been to Kingsport, so I turned north on I-26. I was trying to decide which exit to take, when I saw a brown sign for Bays Mountain Park and Planenarium. I was intrigued, so off we went to find the park.

Turns out, Bays Mountain Park is beautiful - there's a lake with a boat tour and it even has a little zoo. We saw wolves, turtles, raccoons, otters, fish, deer, bobcats, owls, falcons and several other kinds of birds.

After we left the park, we headed to our original destination, the Natural History Museum and Gray Fossil Site. It is a very new site, discovered by a road construction crew in 2000.

Field Day at Sullins

Field Day is pretty interesting if you are a little kid at Sullins and not in a grade. All the older children come into the gym and watch / cheer on the Pre3, PreK and Kindergarten kiddos for their Field Day events in the gym. It's pretty loud - lots of music and cheering - which is one reason Frederic wasn't that into it. The other was probably because I was there. He's been very sensitive to noise lately - especially school bells - and is always covering his ears at the smallest of sounds. Here are a couple videos from the day for you to enjoy!

Get in the Game! Sullins Academy Spring Program

The Sullins Spring Program was April 30, 2009 - the teachers and students did an outstanding job with everything!

Theodore's First Rice Cereal

OK ... so 5 months of 5 hours or less of sleep daily is tough when you are trying to work and keep up with two little boys. Allergies or not, it was time for Theodore to try "real" food, because the poor guy was always hungry.

The new consistency takes some getting used it

At least he didn't mind the spoon

Cousin Reunion and Introduction

We met two of my Meyers Cousins, Lindsay Meyers and Liz Meyers Yoder, at a park near Vanderbilt. We wanted to see each other since we were already in Nashville and before Liz & Patrick packed up and moved back to Texas. Liz's son, Oliver, and Theodore had never met and the gals had not seen Frederic since he was about a month old. It was much too short a visit, but it was great to see them again!

Springtime in Denver - 4 Seasons in 4 Days

We packed up the car, picked up the boys from school Wednesday afternoon and set out for Nashville, TN. We decided to drive for 4 or so hours and fly Frontier direct from Nashville to Denver instead of hopping through Charlotte on a small commuter plane and sitting in the airport for several hours. It was a pretty easy drive and we found a decent hotel to spend the night in before our 6 am flight on Thursday morning. We stayed at one of my long-time girlfriend's home. Eden Cohen let us have her apartment for the long weekend - it was a wonderful place to tuck into and we loved being so close to so many things. We didn't spend nearly enough time with all our friends, but we did get some quality time in - we'll just have to go back again soon!

Z-O-O Knoxville Zoo, Knoxville Zoo

This was the first trip the St-Hilaires made to the Knoxville Zoo and it will not be the last. It has a wonderful children's area - very hands on and lots of animals you can see up close. The Bloomin' Butterfly Gardens opens after the last freeze, so we'll be back soon to see that.

Exciting journey on I-81 ... We saw a TANK!
