Packed and Ready to Roll - Denver or Bust, Part 2

Day 2 - Mt Vernon, IL to Colby, KS

We hit St-Louis by 8:30 AM and there NO traffic. We drove past our second NFL stadium there (Nashville was #1). We stopped just outside of St-Louis to gas and go and made it to Kansas City (third NFL stadium and second MLB) before we hit a McD's on the west / KS side for lunch. We arrived in Colby KS by 7:00 or so and tucked into the Holiday Inn Express for the night. The pool was just what we needed, even if Theodore took a bigger dip than he expected.

Here are two pictures from Day 2

Packed and Ready to Roll - Denver or Bust, Part 1

Sorry ... no pictures of the car packed. I know - what was I thinking. Marc and I left the house around 12:30 PM to pick-up the boys by 1:00 PM. I insisted we do the car line ... Frederic LOVES car line. So I followed a screaming Theodore in the stroller to the car line hall while Marc pulled the car around. We loaded the boys in and headed to Food Lion to fill the cooler. We were on the road at 1:30 PM and made it to Mt Vernon, IL by 9:30 or so. We stayed at the same Days Inn we did when we drove to VA ... the front desk gal was so amazing ... she did some laundry for us after Fred had a blow-out in his car seat. I will ALWAYS stay at a Days Inn on the road if it is an option because of how awesome she was.

Family Picnic at home

Yesterday the St-Hilaire family decided to have a picnic ... Frederic wanted Burger King (Iron Man toy) and Marc and I could have Taco Bell for Cinco de Mayo, but we could make that call.

We got out our Avalanche hockey blanket on the front porch and ate. It was pretty fun - starting to really enjoy having our house on a hill overlooking the Appalachian foothills.

Marc bought a John Deere riding mower / tractor today ... it will be delivered tonight. It is an X300 (I think) and has a cup holder in the back. Fred & Theodore are going to go NUTS! Marc is excited to go from a 20" cut zone to a 42" one ... the whole yard (1 2/3 acres) should ONLY take 2 hours. Will post pictures later ... this is going to be fun.
